A Circle of Services
Launched in 2023, our Vocational Retail Program (VRP) is an opportunity for our participants to explore, engage in, and gain real life, real time, retail store experiences by working alongside community members who shop in the program. Participants learn and practice an array of skills such as sorting, pricing, stocking, organizing, handling money, and greeting.
VRP works hand-in-hand with two of The Arc’s longstanding employment-centered programs — Career Development and Supported Employment — for a complete circle of services benefitting the IDD community, as well as the local community in general.
Shop for a Cause
In addition to providing valuable retail work skills and training to our career-minded participants, VRP provides brand new merchandise at heavily discounted prices to the general public during the store’s opening hours, four days per week (9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Friday through Monday). As The Arc is a nonprofit organization, all sales revenue goes back into The Arc LAOC to support our participants and enhance the services we provide.
